York County has five Marketplace carriers for 2027: Ambetter from Absolute Total Care, BlueCross BlueShield of SC, InStil Health, Oscar and First Choice Next, with 57 plans. The benchmark silver plan for a 40-year-old costs $701 a month at full price before subsidies, up from $614 in 2026 (+14.1%), one of the three smallest increases in the state. Molina is leaving, and Oscar and First Choice Next are new.
If you use doctors in Charlotte, read the hospital section before anything else. Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center is in only two York County networks, both with restrictions, and Novant Health Presbyterian is in none.

What changed for 2027: exits and entries
Molina is leaving. Molina sold 12 plans in York County in 2026 and has none for 2027. See what Molina members should do.
Oscar is new. Oscar enters York and five other SC counties with 14 plans here, and its Silver Simple Diabetes plan is the new benchmark. That plan has $0 primary care visits, $40 specialist visits, a $6,500 deductible and a $10,600 out-of-pocket maximum. Read our Oscar 2027 overview.
First Choice Next is new. First Choice Next (Select Health of South Carolina) enters with 8 plans and has the second-lowest silver and gold prices. See our First Choice Next review.
InStil stays. InStil left Spartanburg County but remains in York with 4 plans, down from 5. It was the 2026 benchmark carrier.
The benchmark changed carriers. Moving from InStil to Oscar changes the tax credit for everyone in the county, so check your 2027 net price before you auto-renew. Our auto-renew guide explains why.
Local hospitals and which plans include them
York County residents split their care between Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, MUSC hospitals in Lancaster and Chester, and the big Charlotte systems across the state line.

Piedmont Medical Center
Piedmont is in four of the five networks: the BCBS EPO, InStil, Oscar and First Choice Next. Ambetter does not include it in our 2027 data.
Charlotte hospitals: Atrium and Novant
This is the question we hear most from Fort Mill, Tega Cay and Lake Wylie.
- Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center is in only two York County networks: the BCBS BlueEssentials and BlueConnect EPO and InStil. Both are marked in-network with restrictions, meaning some services or doctors may be limited. Oscar, First Choice Next and Ambetter do not include it in our data.
- Novant Health Presbyterian is in no SC Marketplace network in our data.
If keeping a Charlotte specialist is the priority, your realistic choices are the BCBS EPO or InStil, and we confirm the specific doctor with the carrier before you enroll. Our Charlotte hospitals guide for York and Lancaster residents has more.
Which plan type fits whom
All York County plans are HMOs except the BCBS BlueEssentials and BlueConnect EPOs, and there are no PPOs on the SC Marketplace. Neither type pays for out-of-network care except emergencies. See HMO vs. EPO in South Carolina.
Your care is in Rock Hill. Oscar, First Choice Next, InStil and the BCBS EPO all include Piedmont. Oscar has the lowest silver ($699) and gold ($763) prices at age 40.
You need Atrium in Charlotte. The BCBS EPO (lowest silver $823 at age 40) or InStil (lowest silver $800). Check prescriptions closely with InStil: in our 2027 formulary check, Mounjaro, Trulicity, Biktarvy, Dupixent and Skyrizi are not on its drug list. See our GLP-1 coverage guide.
You manage diabetes. The Oscar Silver Simple Diabetes benchmark plan has $0 primary care visits. Compare it in our diabetes plan guide.
You want a low premium and rarely need care. BCBS BlueConnect Bronze 1 is $570 at age 40, with a $7,500 deductible, $12,000 out-of-pocket maximum and $50 primary care visits. As an EPO, it also keeps the Atrium option open, with restrictions.
Your income is lower. Silver with cost-sharing reductions can lower your deductible; see cost-sharing reductions.
