Greenville County has three Marketplace carriers for 2027: Ambetter, BlueCross BlueShield of SC and First Choice Next (Select Health of South Carolina), with 48 plans in total. The benchmark silver plan rises from $592 to $741 a month (+25.2%) and is now First Choice Next Silver Signature. Prices on this page are full-price monthly premiums for a 40-year-old, before subsidies, unless noted.
For families in Greenville, Greer and Simpsonville, the network matters as much as the price this year. The new benchmark plan and the county's cheapest gold plan both come from First Choice Next, which does not include Prisma Health's Greenville hospitals. Open Enrollment runs November 1, 2026 through January 15, 2027. Enroll by December 15 for coverage that starts January 1.

What changed for 2027: exits and entries
No carrier is leaving or entering Greenville County for 2027. The county still has 48 plans, in a different mix. Ambetter grew from 9 plans to 17, and BlueCross went from 31 to 23.
The change that will touch the most people is the benchmark itself. In 2026 it was BlueCross's Blue Reedy Silver 2 + Adult Vision. For 2027 it is First Choice Next Silver Signature. HealthCare.gov sets premium tax credits using the second-lowest-cost silver plan, so if you get a credit and stay on a Blue Reedy plan, your net price can move by a different amount than the full price did. Our guide to why auto-renewing can raise your net premium walks through the math.

- Greer families who use Pelham: Pelham is part of Spartanburg Regional and is in Ambetter, First Choice Next and BlueEssentials/BlueConnect.
BlueEssentials/BlueConnect is the only option here that includes every hospital on the list. See which plans cover Prisma Health and our Roper St. Francis and Bon Secours network guide.

Which plan type fits whom in Greenville County
BlueCross's BlueEssentials and BlueConnect are EPOs; every other plan here is an HMO, and the South Carolina Marketplace has no PPOs. Our HMO vs. EPO explainer covers the difference.
- Healthy and mainly want protection from a big bill: Blue Reedy Bronze 2 is the lowest premium at $523. Its $10,600 deductible is also its out-of-pocket maximum, and after that the plan pays in full. It is built around Prisma Health.
- You see doctors or fill prescriptions regularly: First Choice Next Gold Enhanced, at $718, has a $1,000 deductible, $35 primary care visits, $5 generics and a $10,000 out-of-pocket maximum. It costs less than the benchmark silver, but check your hospital first, since it does not include Prisma.
- Lower household income: Silver can cost you less overall. For households up to 250% of the federal poverty level, silver plans come with cost-sharing reductions that lower deductibles and copays. Before those reductions, the benchmark has a $6,400 deductible and a $10,300 out-of-pocket maximum. See cost-sharing reductions explained.
- Split between Prisma and Bon Secours, or crossing into Spartanburg County: BlueEssentials/BlueConnect has the broadest hospital list here.
