Open Enrollment: What You Need To Know
Open Enrollment is coming up soon, here's what you need to know before then to be ready to make the most of the enrollment period.
Open Enrollment is the only window of time where you can enroll in traditional health insurance policies. It only comes once a year, so going in with a game plan can help you make the most of this time. Here's what you should know.
When: November 1, 2018 - December 15, 2018. This period is for healthcare plans that start January 1, 2019.
Why Does It Matter:
If you still need healthcare, this is the only time you can enroll for traditional individual insurance without a special enrollment exception. Major providers will have their policies available for purchase. If you already have a policy, you may need to update your information during this period.
But What If...
There are some exceptions that would allow someone to enroll in a new plan, or switch their policy, outside of open enrollment. These include life events like the passing of a policy holding family member, a marriage, and the birth of children. You can also find alternatives to traditional plans if you need insurance coverage outside of open enrollment. Schedule your appointment today to learn more.
What to do about it now:
Learn your options. It's important to know about all of the policies and alternatives for which you qualify, so that you can make the most informed decision going into open enrollment. Schedule an appointment today to learn about the options you should be looking out for this fall.
